Able, Gifted and Talented

With a small pupil to teacher ratio, Milton Abbey is able to effectively support and guide pupils identified as Able, Gifted or Talented.

Pupils are identified by the use of School data as well as teacher, tutor and Housemaster nomination. They may have demonstrated a high level of ability in academic subject areas, a talent for Art, Music, Drama, Design, ICT or Sports, or shown potential as a leader.

In classes, pupils identified as Able, Gifted or Talented are challenged to complete tasks demanding higher order cognitive skills and encouraged to take on more complex and open-ended problems.  Outside the classroom, pupils benefit from trips to conferences and seminars with a gifted and talented focus, mentoring from subject or activity leaders, and the motivation of extended projects and competitions.
