Hospitality pupils visit the Seaside Boarding House

Today our Lower Sixth Form Hospitality pupils enjoyed a visit to the Seaside Boarding House in Burton Bradstock.  They were kindly hosted by former pupil Nick Smallwood who is on the Board of the establishment.

Nick gave the group a fascinating talk on his life in the Hospitality industry, which has been wide and varied, including stints as Mick Jagger's personal chef and consultant to Richard Branson's club, The Roof Gardens.  Nick was the first manager of the Hard Rock Cafe when it opened in 1971 and during his career he has been responsible for establishing and running some of London's most famous eateries, including Zanzibar, L'Escargot, Launceston Place, Kensington Place and the Brackenbury.

The pupils were taken on a tour of the Seaside Boarding House which boasts 8 bedrooms all enjoying fantastic views of Chesil Beach, along with a bar, restaurant and function room.  The group were treated to a delicious lunch and the chance to try some of Nick's popular home-brewed apple juice!

We extend our thanks to Nick for this most enjoyable trip, which gave our pupils yet more insight into the different types of accommodation provision in the industry.
