Sports Report: Week 2

A round-up of sports results from Week 2 of the Michaelmas Term, by Mr Lawes, Director of Sport.

The 1st XI played their first game of the season and the pressure was on Mr Drewitt to ensure victory against his old school.  The girls didn't let him down and played very well to ensure a 3-1 win.  Captain, Atty, was strong in defence and Amelia, Poppy and Nadia came up with the goals.  Becca and Tabs also had outstanding games.  Well done girls - a great start.

The U15s drew 0-0 with Talbot Heath and then beat Hampshire Collegiate 3-0 on Saturday.  It was a much improved performance and passing was key to the victory.  Lydia, Allie, Amelie and Violet all impressed, and India smashed in two of the three goals.

The 1st XV match was unfortunately postponed after 10 minutes but a re-match will hopefully be arranged for later in the term.

The U15s' excellent start to the season continued with a hard-fought display against Hampshire Collegiate.  It was a very close first half but an inspirational half time team talk from Mr Fraser fired the boys up.  A change of tactics and better defence allowed MA to dominate the second half and ensure the victory.  Every single player in the squad did MA proud.

The U14s were involved in a thrilling match and had to fight back twice to secure a 2 point win.  The team showed tremendous heart in the second half to overcome the deficit.  Josh continued to impress with his boot and his conversions were important to seal the win.
