Latest News Inform > Latest News > Sports Report: Week 5 Sports Report: Week 5 A round up of sports results from Week 5 of the Summer Term, by Mr Lawes, Director of Sport. Unfortunately a number of matches were cancelled due to poor weather this week. Cricket The U14s lost a very close match at Ballard last Tuesday. Dan and Gabriel both made starts with the bat but couldn't convert them into a big innings. We scored 105 thanks to some late hitting by James and Oscar. Ballard made a steady start but Hugo and James then took 5 wickets. MA were unable to press home the advantage however, and some strong hitting from the Ballard middle order saw them to victory in the last over. The U15s enjoyed a comfortable win against Ballard on Thursday, fielding and bowling tightly to bowl Ballard out for 64. The runs were knocked off quickly by Jamie, Jake and Sam. Well done boys. Senior House Cricket The Senior House Cricket produced some exciting matches that often went down to the last over. The final was played between Damer and Hambro with Stephen W's reverse sweep securing the victory for Damer! House Athletics Thanks to all the participants for their efforts, it was a wonderful morning of sport with many competitive events. The sportsmanship of all competitors was first class and a thank you goes to all the officials and spectators for making he day so special, and also to Mr Wilson for his superb organisation. The Senior Boys' competition came down to a close finish. Highlights include Archie winning the 100m, the battle of the Bensons in the 400m, Tom winning the javelin and Ralph's effortless performance in the 800m. Some fantastic achievements but Hambro were crowned winners over all. The Junior Boys' competition was also close. Strong performances came from Sam in the 400m, Rob in the 100m and 800m, from Alex who won the 1500m and Adebayo in the discus. The unfortunate disqualifications of Tregonwell and Damer helped Hambro win for a second time. The Girls' competition was equally as impressive. Noteworthy performances came from Elisa in the javelin, Fran in the 100m, Megan in the long jump and Carla in the 800m. Holmes were crowned winners of the Senior Girls' competition. The Junior Girls also showed some very encouraging performances with highlights coming from Alexandra in winning the 800m, Felicity in the shot putt, and India in the 200m, helping Holmes to secure their second win. House Tennis An excellent Junior House tennis tournament took place over the weekend. Six pupils from each House competed in a pairs competition across three divisions. Tregonwell dominated winning all three divisions and are therefore comfortably declared House winners for 2016. Tregonwell completed the tennis double, winning the Senior House competition too, thanks to a fine performance from Denis and Freddie in their 6-1 win over Athelstan.
