Hockey The U16 XI lost 4-0 against a strong Ballard team. The girls gave it their all but found Ballard’s strong passing and movement hard to defend. The team will learn a lot from the defeat. The stand out players for MA were Hannah, Jess and Laura. Rugby The 1st XV won 15-16. It could have been more comfortable except for the grit and determination shown by Sexey’s. Our playing patterns are ever improving but we were let down by some ill-discipline. Man of the match went to Zavi for another hard and physical performance, although mention should also go to Will who excited on the wing. A good win. The U15s were looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season and were helped with the return of Gabriel from injury. An early try from Cameron started an impressive performance which saw MA score try after try. James, Jack, Max and Felix all played important roles. We had to fight hard to keep our clean sheet and ran out winners by over 50 points. The U14s bounced back well from their first defeat by beating Sexey’s. Sexey’s dominated the first half leading comfortably at 4 tries to 1. An inspired team talk from Mr Ovey raised the standards and MA hit back with two quick tries. At the final whistle it was 4 tries a piece; but once again the MA kicker and man of the match Josh had done enough to secure victory with the boot. A fantastic comeback, 36-34 win for Milton Abbey. Some extremely close matches this week – well done to all involved. The rugby club have now played 15 matches - won 13, lost 2.
