Hockey The 1st XI had an exciting game against Clayesmore's 2nd XI that ended in a 1-0 win. MA settled after a poor start but couldn’t find the back of the net until Annie scored from a short corner. Many chances were created with good midfield play from Becca, Sophie and Ka-Yee. Paige was also the rock in defence. The U15s had a close match drawing 1-1. Clayesmore's U15b team took the lead with a well-worked goal before Bubble produced an excellent finish to level the match. India had another fantastic match and she was very well supported by Ali and Lydia. Rebecca also deserves a mention for her improvement in recent weeks. Rugby The 1st XV absorbed some early pressure from Ryde, but as the first half progressed MA started to find their rhythm. A brilliantly executed cross-filed kick from Stephen to Patrick scored our first try. MA continued to improve in the second and half and eventually ran out comfortable 15-3 winners. They then played HCS on Tuesday. Again MA took some time to hit their stride but then played some great rugby and scored some really pleasing tries. Stephen gets a mention for his hatrick. Bug and Cesare also get mentions for really impressive performances, MA 29 HCS 19. The 2ndXV played an 11 aside game against Ryde. A combination of much greater space and unforced errors by both teams led to a 'try fest'. MA ran out winners by 48-36 but not before the balance of power had changed hands several times. A fantastic game to watch. Sam was the man of the match. The U15s got off to a fantastic start with Alex and Gabriel running in impressive tries. Gabriel was unlucky not to double up before the break, after a long solo effort. Scrum half Maxim ran in an impressive solo effort before playing a key role in allowing Archie to finish the game in style. The U15 remain unbeaten! Ryde dominated the start of the U14 match but MA came back strong. The defence was fantastic - Joe H, Joe E, Keii and George all had great games. Eventually we scored a break away try from Josh. Josh also converted adding the vital 2 points which would prove to be the difference in the game. The Milton Abbey players held out in a brutal second half for a great 7-5 win. Football Milton Abbey football team won their first game of the season (4-2) and put on a good display of skills against a good Ballard team. Will opened the score after a good pass from Alejandro and Darius soon doubled MA lead. Harry defended very well and Cesare scored 2 goals to ensure the victory after Ballard battled back. Man of the match goes to Pedro who made lots of excellent passes. Clay Pigeon Shooting On Thursday the Milton Abbey Clay Pigeon Shooting Club, made its presence felt in the Millfield Invitational Cup. This prestigious Trophy is fought over by 15 schools. The Milton Abbey A team fought hard all afternoon and managed to win! This is an amazing achievement. The team have been training very hard this term and had improved a lot. A special mention goes to Zach who led his team well and to Jack who performed well in his first competition for the B team Zach, George, Will, Josh, Jack and Paul will collect the trophy from the Headmaster in Wednesday’s Assembly.
