Headmaster's Lecture by film maker and writer Matt Dickinson

Mountaineer, film maker and writer, Matt Dickinson, spoke at Milton Abbey on Friday at the final Headmaster's Lecture of the academic year.

Matt told the story of his successful ascent of Everest in 1996, the week after nine other climbers had died trying to summit in appalling weather. Matt gave a fascinating insight into what drives climbers to put themselves in such overwhelmingly dangerous situations. Throughout his talk Matt used his own films from the far-flung corners of the world, Antarctica, the high Himalaya, The Andes, to bring his talk vividly to life. It was an inspirational lecture for any budding climber or adventurer, or anyone thinking of a career in adventure documentary film-making.
