Milton Abbey hosts prep school girls’ cricket

On Wednesday 26th April Milton Abbey School hosted six girls’ cricket matches between Port Regis and Chafyn Grove.

Girls’ cricket is becoming increasingly popular and many of our local prep schools are taking it up.  It was great to see over 80 girls enjoying this fantastic sport in the idyllic grounds of Milton Abbey on a sunny Spring afternoon.  The standard was extremely high despite it being the first competitive match for a number of the girls. All the matches were extremely close and hard fought but played in a great spirit.  The girls were a credit to their schools and we hope they enjoyed their day on a cricket pitch that is considered one of the ten most beautiful cricket grounds in the world. It was also a fantastic opportunity for a number of Milton Abbey pupils to develop their communication and leadership skills by officiating and supporting the matches. A big thank you to the staff at both Port Regis and Chafyn Grove for their hard work in developing girls’ cricket and we look forward to watching the girls develop in the coming years.
