Sports Day

Last Saturday we enjoyed Milton Abbey’s Sports Day with more pupils competing than ever.  It was a wonderful day which was greatly enjoyed by everyone, competitors and spectators alike.

We clearly have some impressive athletes at Milton Abbey and it was wonderful to see so many pupils really pushing themselves to perform to the best of their ability.

In the girls’ competitions special mention must go to India for her performance in the Junior Girls’ 100m and to Fran for winning the 300m by a margin of more than 4.25 seconds in an extremely tough race. The event of the day in the girls’ competition though had to be the 100m final with all three girls finishing within one second of each other.   The results of the girls’ competition were as follows:  MacArthur won the Junior competition on 33 points, followed by Holmes on 31 points and Grainger with 29 points.  In the senior girls’ competition, Holmes came in as the winners with 38 points, MacArthur were second with 36 points and Grainger followed with 31 points.

Some highlights from the Junior Boys’ competition were Gabriel winning the 200m by over 3 seconds, a long way in a sprint, Marcus striding past the finish line 8 seconds ahead of second place in the 800m and Max winning both the shot and the discus.  The junior boys’ competition finished as follows:  Hambro took the overall win for with 139 points, followed by Athelstan on 109 points, Damer came third and Tregonwell were fourth.

In the Senior Boys’ competition special mention goes to Zavi for an excellent throw of 10.36 in the shot-put and Ralph for his performance in the 1500m.
