Sports Results - Week 1

A round-up of sports results from week 1 of the Summer Term by Ben Lawes, Head of Sport.

Cricket

1st XI v Warminster – Lost by 24 runs
Following a great pre-season game at Bryanston where Thomas and Stephen took 7 wickets between them, spirits where high for the match against Warminster. A few too many extras and a solid 50 from Warminster's number 4 led to them scoring 134. After early wickets Will and Sam took the fight to Warminster. Unfortunately, the partnership was broken and a flurry of wickets fell leaving us all out.

2nd XI v Bryanston – Lost by 65 runs
Bryanston proved too strong for Milton Abbey 2nd XI. MA's stand out performance was from Adebayo who took a hat trick with all three wickets being cleaned bowled. He eventually ended his spell of bowling with 4 wickets. Will and Milo offered some resistance when MA batted but we were never up with the required run rate.

U15 v Warminster – Won by 9 wickets
It took Milton Abbey a few overs to really get into the game, but the boys soon remembered the values of bowling straight and fielding with intensity. Oscar was the pick of the bowlers in terms of accuracy, however Archie, Dan and Maxim also picked up wickets. Max P and Dan opened with a stand of 106 in 85 balls to ensure victory. Den finishing with 60 in what was an almost a perfect twenty over openers innings. A really positive start to the season.

U14 v Warminster – Lost by 33 runs
A really positive start to the season despite the result. There was some excellent bowling from Kay and Harry and our batsman looked strong. George saw off the opening bowler allowing Archie  and Piers to score freely. They shared 118 run partnership in just 90 balls both finishing on 53 runs. A fantastic performance. We fell 33 runs short of their target but with better fielding could have won the match.
