WEDDINGS

A prestigious and truly beautiful setting for weddings and civil marriage ceremonies in the heart of the Dorset countryside, located just outside the historic village of Milton Abbas, midway between Dorchester and Blandford.

Our unique site, nestled in a picturesque, wooded valley, is home to a stunning Mansion House and magnificent Abbey church (founded by King Athelstan in 934). Surrounded by expansive grounds landscaped by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, it offers the perfect venue for your entire day of celebrations.

A bride and groom stand at the altar in a church, exchanging vows with a minister. Guests are seated on either side, watching the wedding ceremony. The church, perfect for weddings at Milton Abbey, is decorated with greenery and tall trees.

At Milton Abbey we offer exclusive hire of the Mansion House and grounds for your wedding.

We can cater for ceremonies of between 80 and 110 guests, with marriage ceremonies taking place either in the Abbey or State Rooms or quadrangle, followed by a reception in the wonderful Abbot’s Hall, dating back to the 15th century. For the evening, our Kings’ Room can be transformed into a dancefloor to accompany your DJ or live music, with the Prince’s Room and Library offering a bar area and optional quiet space. Marquees can be accommodated if desired and we offer a fireworks package as an exciting conclusion to your day.

Our wedding day and weekend were some of the best days of our lives. We will forever be grateful to Ed and the team for their excellent communication and organisation. They answered all our questions, however many there were, and were open to our requests, however unusual. We even had a rounders game with 40 guests the day before the wedding which was fantastic!   The Abbey, where we held the ceremony, is utterly breathtaking and gave the wedding an almost regal feel. Milton Abbey is head and shoulders above comparably priced venues in my opinion. The Abbot’s Hall and the other wedding rooms were also absolutely perfect. The food was delicious and generously portioned.   We couldn’t recommend Milton Abbey more highly as a wedding venue. The entire experience was simply magical.
