Teacher/Head of MFL

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher/Head of Modern Foreign Languages (Fluent in French and/or Spanish) at Milton Abbey with an ability to deliver lessons up to A Level.

The MFL Department teaches the Edexcel GCSE specification followed by the AQA A Level for Sixth Form students for both Spanish and French. Modern Foreign Languages enjoys small classes across the year groups which allows us to tailor our lessons to individual learner’s needs. We require our teachers to be creative, empathetic and dynamic practitioners who inspire within the classroom and beyond.

Alongside teaching a standard timetable allocation, you’ll also play an active role in the extra-curricular life of our full boarding school. There are many opportunities to contribute to off-timetable enrichment extension programmes, share good practice and play your part in aspects of community life such as coaching sports, directing plays or taking pupils on trips; these are all elements of a role that will enable you to play a key part in our transformational education programme.

Applicants will need a good level degree in a related subject and a thorough knowledge of the curriculum. Experience teaching GCSE and/or A-Level is essential, while previous involvement in extra-curricular activities (professional, amateur, or voluntary) is also desirable.

We will also consider suitably experienced applicants from an industry background.

Further details may be obtained from HR on 01258 882306 or email hr@miltonabbey.co.uk. Applications must be submitted on the school’s application form. The closing date for applications is Friday 28th February 2025. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Please note that we are not accepting applications for this position through any employment agency and all applications should be made direct to the school.

Milton Abbey School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The appointment will be the subject of an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Additionally, please be aware that Milton Abbey School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. To avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the search and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
