Learning > Stretch & Challenge Stretch & Challenge With a small pupil-to-teacher ratio, Milton Abbey is perfectly suited to support and guide pupils who have been identified as particularly likely to benefit from Stretch and Challenge opportunities. Pupils are identified by the use of School data, as well as teacher or tutor nominations, however it is key for us that all students are challenged at a level appropriate to them. Some students may have demonstrated a high level of ability in academic subject areas, a talent for Art, Music, Drama, Design, ICT or Sports, or shown potential as a leader. All students will be able to access our Stretch and Challenge provision. In classes, pupils are challenged to complete tasks demanding higher-level cognitive skills and encouraged to take on more complex and open-ended problems. Outside the classroom, pupils benefit from additional trips to conferences and seminars, mentoring from subject experts or activity leaders, and the motivation of extended projects and competitions.
